Meet a Few of the Guys

NAME: BILL BERGER
CAR: 1923 “T” Bucket
FAVORITE VERSE: Romans 8:28. “We know that all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
In 2007 we started the Cruisers to try & reach men that may not be regular church attenders. We have been blessed with a tool to use that lets us go to shows & talk to guys and let them know that we’re not any different than them except for having Jesus in our lives. These car’s have been a great ministry tool.

NAME: RICHARD (DICK) LEWIS
CAR: MESSERSCHMITT Replica – Originals were produced in 1955 – 1964
FAVORITE VERSE: 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creature, all old things are passed away, all things have become new”
I became involved with PCC several years ago when the core group started this club. This has been a fun time where we have got to know each other better and enjoy each other’s fellowship both at church and at some of the car shows we attend together.
A couple of months back one of the guy’s cars had some serious brake issues and we all showed up one day at his house – It looked like a pit crew swarming in, under and around the car laughing and having a great time getting the car fixed and going again. This reminded me of what the Church is supposed to be about, with many people coming together with their many diverse gifts to joyfully support each other.
The Rapha House and Million Kids cause is special to me in this way – I have had several opportunities to find an old car and to rescue it from destruction. Sometimes these projects were not financially profitable but there was just something special about rescuing the car that was due for the junk pile and seeing it restored to a new and higher purpose than when it sat sad, rusty and rejected. I believe the work that Rapha House and Million Kids does brings new life and hope to precious children that have been counted out and cast aside. There can be no higher calling than to restore hope, love, and faith to little children who have had that taken from them.

NAME: MIKE GORDON
MIKE’S CARE: 1928 TUDOR SEDAN
FAVORITE VERSE: Philippians 3:13; “Dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing; forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.”
I got the car after I went to the 1st Pathway Christian Cruisers car show at Pathway Church.
I enjoy the fellowship with my Christian brothers and I enjoy old cars, I knew this was a perfect match for me.
Helping to restore the lives of trafficked and exploited kids is dear to my heart, so what better thing to do with old cars, but help trafficked and exploited kids. If I can help get Gods word out while I am doing the things I love, that is what I will do.

NAME: JEFF BILYEU
CAR: 1940 CHEVROLET MASTER DELUXE BUSINESS COUPE
FAVORITE VERSE: 2 Corinthians; “So we are Christ’s ambassadors, God is making his appeal through us.”
I had gone to church casually for a few years, you know, when it was convenient. But then I got involved with the Pathway Christian Cruisers and began to understand what being a Christian and fellow-shipping was all about. Through my love of cars and car shows, I have developed many new friendships with other Christian men and women. But more importantly, I have found a way to reach out to others with my Christianity in a forum that I feel comfortable in and that I enjoy, and in a very family friendly environment. I am proud of my car, but I think I am more proud of the people that I have met and fellow-shipped with because of the car.
My car is a 1940 Chevrolet Master Deluxe business coupe. It is very modified including a modern V-8 drive-train, power windows, air-conditioning, custom paint, etc. My wife Anita and I enjoy the car shows and cruise nights that we attend, usually with fellow Christians from Pathway Church.
God Bless,
Jeff Bilyeu

NAME: TIM DRAKE
CAR: 1931 FORD DELUXE COUPE, 200.5 Cubic Inches, 40 Horsepower at 2200 RPM
This 1931 Ford Deluxe Coupe was the car my dad bought when I was around 6 or 7 years old. I can remember Dad taking my two older brothers and myself to a clay oval racetrack where we raced quarter midgets. I helped my dad re-build this car from the frame up at different stages. I have a lot of good memories in this old car, from going to the racetrack, to Dad dropping me off at school in the mornings, to just going for rides in it. I even went out on dates in this car (with Wendy of course!) My dad is in heaven now, but I’m sure he’s happy watching people continue to enjoy and appreciate the old ’31 Ford and hear about the good times our family had with it…
Although I was raised in a Christian home, I never really took it seriously until after I married Wendy and we had our two sons. After listening to Christian music on my work truck radio I realized that God was knocking on the door of my life. One Easter morning at a sunrise service I embraced Christ as my Savior and my life changed. I still have hurdles to jump- some short, some tall: but knowing God is right there to help me, even with the tallest of hurdles, makes my life so much better.
